ANGELA GAY MAGNUS
Angela Gay Magnus is a Jamaican music educator and arts administrator with more than two decades of experience in Jamaican higher education and the creative industries. She currently serves as Director of Music at the Alpha School of Music, where she played a leading role in shaping one of the Caribbean’s most innovative music education institutions, developing programmes that combine ensemble-based learning, performance excellence, music technology and industry-focused training. Angela has worked extensively on curriculum that responds to the Jamaican cultural and industry context and in strengthening connections between community music and tertiary education. She has held academic and administrative positions at several of Jamaica’s leading tertiary institutions, including Northern Caribbean University, the University of Technology, the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, and the University of the West Indies, Mona. In addition to her work in music, Angela is a screenwriter and filmmaker.
