DYSTOH (Ottawa)
DYSTOH is a dynamic new duo from Ray Tabana and Phil Motion, founding members of the three‑time Juno‑nominated Souljazz Orchestra. Blending hard‑hitting congas, roaring baritone sax, and tight two‑part harmonies, their sound draws from the more commanding elements of afrobeat(s), latin, and reggae.
-
BIG SMOKE BRASS BAND (Toronto)
Big Smoke Brass is a musical powerhouse delivering heavy-hitting grooves with infectious energy. Since their beginnings on the streets of Toronto in 2017, the band has gone on to give hundreds of performances across Canada, all the while cultivating a unique, modern take on the brass band sound.
SAT SEP 27TH

-
Subhira Quintet (CHILE)
One of the most innovative ensembles in Chile, their compositions mix rhythms from the native peoples of the south of America, electronica, and contemporary music.
-
Fethi Nadjem (TORONTO - ALgeria)
Fethi Nadjem, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and visionary, brings a rich tapestry of Algerian roots and global influences to every performance. Born into a musical family in Algeria (1983), he honed his craft playing oud, violin, mandole, and more.
-
Marta Elena y Su Orquesta (Toronto-Cuba)
In the history of salsa, not all `salseros' have been male artists, and Marta Elena is one of the notable exceptions. A first-class singer, composer, percussionist and band leader (Marta Elena y Su Orquesta), she belongs to a younger generation of Cuban musicians who are happy to honour the island nation's Afro-Latin musical roots while looking for new ways to express the music that courses through their country's veins.
