Saz

SAZ is a Rajasthani folk music trio from the Langa community of the Thar Desert in western Rajasthan. The Langa community is a hereditary lineage of musicians who have preserved and transmitted their musical traditions across generations for centuries. SAZ was formed with the intention of safeguarding this rich heritage while also reimagining it for contemporary audiences, ensuring that the tradition remains alive, relevant, and evolving.

SAZ features master musicians Sadiq Khan on dholak, Asin Khan on Sindhi sarangi and vocals, Zakir Khan on khartal and vocals, and Divya Bhatia as narrator and storyteller. Together, they balance deep-rooted tradition with contemporary expression, presenting their heritage with authenticity and innovation. Having performed internationally in cities such as Jodhpur, Mumbai, Chennai, Hobart, Budapest, Naples, and at New York’s Lincoln Center, SAZ continues to share the vibrant energy of Rajasthan’s folk music with audiences around the world.
