Sahad
Sahad is a Senegalese singer, composer and producer shaping a contemporary Afrobeat sound in West African traditions. Blending jazz, funk and African rhythmic structures, he has developed a distinctive voice within Senegal's alternative music scene. His work bridges roots and modernity, combining socially conscious lyrics with energetic live performances.
Over the years, Sahad has performed at major international events including South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Visa For Music in Rabat, ACCES Music in Africa in Nairobi, and the Festival International des Nuits d'Afrique in Montreal. His latest album, African West Station (2025), builds on the musical and political heritage of 1970s West Africa. The project reconnects with the legacy of Afrobeat and post-independence cultural movements while addressing contemporary realities. Structured around strong grooves, brass arrangements and layered rhythms, the album highlights both collective energy and narrative depth.Presented live, African West Station delivers a powerful and tightly arranged performance. He is also the founder of the pan-African label Stereo Africa and the eco-village Kamyaak in Senegal.
