Breabach

Scottish Traditional music is in good hands with the youthful enthusiasm of Breabach. The exuberant sounds of twin bagpipes have become a defining signature of the band - a chiming herald of Scottish folk being embraced by a new generation.  When you unite the  talents of Calum MacCrimmon (pipes, whistles, bouzouki), Ewan Robertson (guitar, vocals), James Mackenzie (pipes, flute, whistles), Megan Henderson (fiddle, vocals, step-dance) and James Lindsay (double bass), it's not hard to understand why Breabach's star has been steadily on the rise since the group won the Open Stage Award at Glasgow's Celtic Connections in 2005. In concert, Breabach delivers a thrilling blend of contemporary and traditional Celtic music, that has garnered them international recognition on the world and roots music scene as one of the UK's most dynamic and in demand young bands.

Breabach has had the honor of being voted 'Best Group' and 'Best Live Act' at the Scots Trad Music Awards, as well as being nominated twice as 'Best Band' at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Songlines Magazine praises their work as "intriguingly distinctive, confident of purpose and rich in dynamic drama," while The Scotsman calls the band an exemplar of "how catalyzing Scottish traditions with contemporary creative imagination should be done."  Earlier this year, Breabach enjoyed a month-long tour of the UK, and are now in the final week of heating up summer festivals from coast to coast in Canada, with post-TD Sunfest '15 appearances scheduled in BC at festivals in Harrison and Vancouver.  Most of the rest of the band's summer will be taken up with rehearsing material for their forthcoming fifth album.
